Joint Pain and Muscle Stiffness

Within the varied age groups among our patients, many begin their care with us because of back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, neck pain, foot pain - every form of joint pain you can imagine. Most of them report chronic pain that is not a passing problem, so they are looking for real relief - without a lifetime of drugs. Years of wear and tear on skeletal joints, especially if one is overweight, is a factor. Past injuries to joints might never have completely healed and this can leave them more vulnerable to pain and stiffness. An inflamed digestive tract is frequently an underlying cause of discomfort occurring elsewhere in the body. In fact, most who suffer severe or chronic stiffness or joint pain also report digestive problems. Insulin and cortisol also work as inflammatory agents. Many suffer an excess of both of these hormones, the first usually from too many sugars and other carbohydrates in the diet, and the second from too much stress and caffeine. Prolonged high levels cause the disruption of cellular metabolism, eventually causing inflammation to spread aggressively. Fluctuating estrogen levels and poor estrogen clearance, due to the way estrogen is metabolized and cleared from the body, can also impact how joints feel. We determine the reason for the pain and then provide the methods for the problem to be corrected.
