From the first period until menopause, each woman's biochemistry establishes her own unique monthly menstrual cycle. Each monthly period results from a sequential conversation between the brain, the adrenals, the pituitary and thyroid glands, as well as the ovaries. Regular menstruation is a sign that the body is producing appropriate levels of hormones from each of these glands in a balanced fashion. The good news is that it is relatively easy to re-establish and maintain a healthy, regular cycle when the body is given the correct support. Our patients have had great success with nutritional supplementation and dietary changes. In some cases, additional bioidentical hormone support might be helpful. These measures support the body's natural hormonal balance, resulting in the elimination of pain and establishment of regular, predictable periods. |
