We are pleased to announce that we are offering Medical Infrared Thermography as a NEW service at Integrative Health Group! The imaging services we offer for both men and women include:

Most people will ask ... what exactly is Thermography? Medical Infrared Thermography is an exclusive technology that takes pictures and creates a map of the infrared patterns of the body. This technology is different than other screening tools because it helps us to see the function (physiology) of our body. MRI and X-ray detect anatomical changes so it can miss such things as active inflammation or angiogenesis (increased blood supply as found in cancer) .

At Integrative Health Group we will be using this imaging technology (scans without radiation and harm to the patient) as a safe and affordable screening for:

Thermography will not be replacing mammography but will be a vital adjunctive screening for breast health and so much more!  

According to the Institute for the Advancement of Medical Thermography, "it has been shown to be effective in finding early signs of breast cancer up to 8 years before the mammogram. As a routine screening tool, it has been shown to be 97% effective at detecting benign vs malignant breast abnormalities. Another study tracked 1,537 women with abnormal thermograms for 12 years. They had normal mammograms and physical exams. Within 5 years, 40% of the women developed malignancies. The researchers commented that an abnormal thermogram is the single most important marker of high risk for the future development of breast cancer."

Unlike most thermography services offered in the southeast, we will be performing these scans in our office with our physician interpreting your results. Dr. Stegall is part of a prestigious professional group of physicians (iAMT) who are trained in the meticulous procedures of thermographic imaging and interpretation.

Not only does she read the thermal images in order to have broader understanding of the patient, but she also interprets them.  She then prepares a formal interpretation report to be shared and discussed with the patient.  It is during a valuable visit a few weeks after the thermogram that she makes necessary suggestions and/or referrals. With a copy of the report, the patient then leaves the experience armed with a comprehensive evaluation from the doctor’s perspective. This is consistent with our philosophy in committing to treat the whole person on an individual basis.
